Who are we?
WAGs – The Western Area Group team membership comes principally from the west Oxfordshire area, from Newbury/Thatcham to Witney and beyond. Anyone, with any badge colour, who’s a member of TVAM, is most welcome.
- Kevin Dunwell (Team Leader)
- Pete Dalgliesh (TOB Assistance)
- Mimi Carter Jonas (Events)
- Sean Byrne (Social Run Leader)
Olde Red Lion, Green Lane, Chieveley, Newbury, West Berkshire RG20 8XB
We meet on the 2nd Wednesady of each month. Start 7.30pm. Usually there will be a ride prior to the meeting so starting times are dependent on the run finish time, so for a first timer aim to be a bit later for bar snacks, beer and friendly bike chat.
What do we do?
Loads of things to do and being done! Throughout the riding season and beyond. we are holding;
- Bi-monthly Friday night fish ‘n’ chip runs.
- Monthly pre-meeting runs.
- St. Crispin’s runs
So that’s one a week on average. Most end up at a place of interest for tea, cakes and/or lunch.
- Annual trips to Europe (two)
- Wales (two)
Plus, several in the group are active with:
- Track riding skills
- Track riding modifications
- General bike maintenance and mechanical skills
On top of this, the WAGs have dabbled with Moto Gymkhana, karting, and non riding events e.g. summer BBQ and Christmas party as well as other random gatherings.
There’s an active Observer corps supporting Associates, Members, Trainee Observers, and new Observers to build and maintain their skill levels and to progress in their riding. There’s also an annual training day run (T-Run) to which other teams’ Observers and Associates are invited, offering the opportunity for Trainee Observers and Associates to benefit from riding with a number of different Observers during the day.
With nearly 30 members, the WAGs are probably best characterised as a smallish but friendly TVAM group on your doorstep, comprising passionate riders, having a focus on high skills and high fun. Come and join us and make friends. email@example.com
