Who are we?
BAR team membership comes principally from the Basingstoke, Fleet, Hartley Wintney and Alton areas but some travel from further afield such as Sutton Scotney and even Chandlers Ford. Anyone, with any badge colour, who’s a member of TVAM is most welcome.

October – April: “Jekyll & Hyde” pub at Stratfield Turgis, on the A33 north of Basingstoke.
May – September: “Nelson’s Diner” A329, Kingsclere, south of Newbury.
In the Winter months we meet on the Monday after the St Crispin’s Sunday Meetings, which is usually the 3rd Sunday of each month. Start 8pm but get there 7.15 onwards for bar snacks, beer and friendly bike chat. In the summer we meet on the second Saturday of the month at 9:00am for a short meeting followed by a ride out ending around lunchtime.
What do we do?
Thanks to our Social Rides Coordinator, Mark Spittles, there are social rides most weekends including breakfast/morning runs for those on half-day passes, and longer all-day rides for those wanting to stretch their legs a bit more. All along some of the great biking roads of Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire. Most end up at a place of interest for tea, cakes and/or lunch. We also organise European trips lasting from short weekend ‘raids’ to longer tours down through France to the Pyrenees or through Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
In the Winter we try to invite along speakers of interest to our meetings covering everything from Speed Awareness Courses, Foreign Trips and the IAM Masters qualification.
There’s an active Observer corps supporting Associates, Members, Trainee Observers, and new Observers to build and maintain their skill levels and to progress in their riding. There’s also an annual training day run at the beginning of the season where we try to hone our riding skills via peer-to-peer feedback after the Winter lay-off.
With around 100 members, the BARs are probably best characterised as riders having a focus on high skills and high fun.
Come and join us and make friends.
