So what is this new event all about? As we told you in the article in the January edition of Slipstream, the over-subscription of 7Ws has lent itself to an offshoot which we tried and tested last year in two locations. The main purpose (other than fun) for the weekend was ‘development,’ and not just for Associates. No matter where we are in our biking journey, the colour of our badge or our confidence level, we can always learn from one another. That might be how to cope with new terrain (goat/farm tracks) or circumstances (road-side puncture repairs), lead a run or back mark for the first time and even perhaps giving some advice which, in turn, develops a desire to help others with their own riding.  On both trips we tested we found the smaller numbers allowed the entire group to ride and socialise together better and that the feedback can be multi-layered, not just on a 1-2-1 basis. What was also evident on these trips was that improvement was noticed across the group too and we all know how good it feels when someone notices and takes the time to share how much they think someone has improved.

So last weekend we headed off to try it out for real – did it all work out as planned?…
